The New work is based on a narrative from The Mr Island Mystery

 A cartoon character created in isolation during the lockdown 

The best spy in the world ,a timetraveller and a  master of illusion with a quest for good over evil .His identity remains unknown over generations of time The ultimate cartoon hero who can save humanity and the world from destruction.

•••MEANWHILE is the phrase at the start of many episodes in the comic book. 

The city at night has been a constant theme in previous exhibitions 

This was subject matter developed from years of having a studio in Wynyard

in the heart of the city of Sydney. The usual nightscapes are now inhabited by Spys 

Shadows and high key lighting bring Mr Island, from the pages of the cartoon into a real landscape.The mystery and intrigue created in the sharp monochrome lighting effects 

of film noir has been given 'night time' colours

 

•••MEANWHILE After weeks of isolation lockdown its easy to see 'no one is an island' 

The small island paintings in the exhibition represent an illusion,somewhere you can escape to and the vanishing tricks of a clever Spy
